As everyone who walks Georgetown’s main streets knows, the current streetscape
is an abomination… and not just because of the on-going construction
referred to as “The Georgetown Project”. Trees, for the most part, are
missing, dead, dying or struggling. Furthermore, the sidewalks are just
too narrow to accommodate all of the pedestrians along with all of the
signs, traffic lights, street lights, trash cans, newspaper machines,
parking meters, bay windows and stoops.
This is an urgent appeal for your
support, given that sections of the Georgetown project are being completed
shortly. The result of these sectional completions is that the city
of Washington will shortly commence upgrading the sidewalks in an “as-is”
configuration. Before this happens and the city wastes money perpetuating
something which doesn’t work, we need to push the city to study ways
to improve conditions now!!
If you would like to support this effort please help us by signing up “here”.
